Public Policy Concerns
Jobs & Economic Growth
As a fiscal conservative, I understand that it is not the role of government to create wealth, but to foster an environment in which our small businesses and entrepreneurs can flourish. Government is at its best when it is limited in both size and scope. That is why I want to make it my top priority to transform South County into the economic engine of the Metro area.
South County is waiting for new hopes, new ideas, and new idealism. Let's stand together to demand better results from our leaders and restore the public's trust that their elected officials are listening to them instead of well-funded special interest groups.
Tax Regulation & Government Streamlining
I believe we must make our government live within its means, and prove to taxpayers that we understand the values of working families that live paycheck to paycheck. I will represent South County as a champion of fiscal responsibility, by fighting to eliminate government waste, fraud, and bureaucracy.
As a CPA with a specialization in state and local tax code, I have the experience to take the mantle of reform and put special interests on notice that I will root out the ever-growing litany of spending programs, tax-loopholes, and corporate welfare that they have grown accustom to under my predecessor. I will be a representative with the necessary understanding of our county's complex financial system and will serve as South County taxpayer's watchdog in county government.
Transportation & Infrastructure
Having a first-class infrastructure and transportation system is key to the growth of the St. Louis region's economy. St. Louis is in the center of the country, strategically located to be a major transportation hub for the national and international economy. Whether it is the interstates, rail system, airports or water ports, all of these modes must be fully utilized to maximize their economic benefit to the region.
Workforce Enhancement, Labor Protections, & Job Re-tooling
I have always been a support of the rights of labor to organize and procure collective bargaining agreements. My father was a member of Communications Workers of America (CWA). Growing up in a union household, helped shape my perception of labor protections. However, this is less a sentimental viewpoint than my general philosophy that we must maintain a fair balance between worker and management to prevent corporate greed and abuses. South County 's working families deserve the same opportunity at the American Dream as those born into privilege.
Community Redevelopment & Revitalization
For South County as a whole to flourish, our economically distressed areas must be revitalized. The business sector must take a leadership role in achieving this goal through partnership with our county government. Strategic public policies can foster public/private partnerships to successfully leverage private investment into these blighted areas. Without these strategic initiatives, South St. Louis County may soon face the same challenges that we face today in North St. Louis County .
If chosen to represent South County as its next County Councilman , I will not rest until I have established South County as the New Economic Frontier of the St. Louis Region.
Business Incentives & Regulations
A large majority of our area employers are small businesses. However, our city's regulatory red tape and bureaucratic gridlock can make it difficult for many entrepreneurs. Job creation and job retention should be a major focus of your next County Council member. This starts by constructing a sound tax policy for St. Louis County . I believe that we must keep our property taxes low and act more responsibly in using TIF developments. I will also oppose eminent domain laws as a way for our government to wrongfully rob citizens of their property.
My focus will be to continue to create opportunity and foster an environment for growth and prosperity for St. Louis County . I will fight for business and regulatory policy reforms that will help allow our small businesses to flourish. I will promote public policy which rewards the principles of personal responsibility, rugged individualism, fiscal discipline, fair competition, and equal opportunity.
Our next County Councilperson must be more responsive to the demands of our growing community. I believe I have the experience, strength of character, and a clear vision to move South County forward. I care deeply about life in our community and I want to make St. Louis County an even better place to work and raise a family.
Protecting Our Families from Crime & Abuse
The people of South County deserve a representative who will stand up and fight for them when they have been wronged. Unfortunately, their representative has broken more laws, and undercut more laws than he has pass laws for the protection for South County families. That will all soon change.
As a private practice attorney and a prosecutor, I have the experience, passion, and leadership ability to get our county government on track with the needs of its community. When I speak to my neighbors and my community leaders there are two principle requests for their next county representative: Protect my family from harm and help me to better provide for them. I have taken their directive to heart and I will not rest until I have completely satisfied their assertion.
I promise to fight for South County families just as I would my own; tirelessly, tenaciously, and compassionately.
Environment
We live in an area of St. Louis County that is truly blessed. We have the natural resources and geographic beauty of Bee Tree Park , Suson Park , and Lone Elk Park . We also have major tourist attractions like Grant's Farm and Jefferson Barracks. Our area is rich in its cultural traditions, its history, and its food and festivals. South County needs leadership that will both protect and promote our area's resources to ensure their benefit to future generations.
