Biography of Steve Stenger

Steve Stenger grew up in Affton , MO. His parents, Pete and JoAnn, instilled in Steve the value of hard work and determination. His father supported the family working as a union telephone lineman with Southwestern Bell for more than forty years. While growing up, Steve was involved in many extra-curricular activities including soccer and baseball. Steve and his three siblings, Debbie, Pete and Darlene attended St. Dominic Savio Catholic Grade School.

After graduating from St. Dominic's Steve followed in his siblings' footsteps and attended Bishop DuBourg High School . While in high school, Steve was on student council, took part in school theatre, sang in his school choir as well as various area church choirs, and played football.

Steve's education at DuBourg led him to the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). Steve put himself through college, and during his free time, he volunteered with seniors in his community. Within three short years, Steve graduated with highest honors, earning a degree in accounting. Immediately following college graduation he passed the Missouri Certified Public Accounting Exam on the first attempt and became a CPA. He then chose to pursue a career in law and entered St. Louis University School of Law (SLU Law) in 1993. During his time at SLU Law Steve served as Assistant Editor of the St. Louis University Law Journal. Steve graduated from law school with honors in 1996.

Following law school, Steve went to work as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and attorney for Ernst & Young. In 1998, relying on perseverance and self-determination, Steve started his own law firm, Klar, Izsak and Stenger, LLC, where he practices today.

Throughout his life, Steve's parents, teachers and mentors taught him the importance of giving back to his community. They taught him how to be a leader of character and strong values and to stand up for what is right. It is through their support that Steve has stepped forward to run for the 6 th District St. Louis County Council seat.
